Coffee World Uttara Dhaka

I was in Uttara for some work and decided to grab a quick lunch. It just happened that Coffee World was right next door to where I was. Given that I was both hungry and feeling slightly lethargic, it looked like the ideal place to stop by.

As I walked in, I noticed that the restaurant had a rectangular layout with the counter on the right side from the entrance. The far end on the left side had a higher seating area with a single table. A few tables were occupied on the main floor but the elevated side was still available and we opted for that seating space.

It appeared that the place was being run by two young women, one at the counter and the other on the floor. There were other staff but these two women took the more prominent role. The server who was working on the floor told us to take a seat and she promptly came over with the menu. She was curt but courteous and helpful. As we got busy looking into the menu, she excused herself and rushed to help other customers. The first impression on the service appeared very positive.

The menu had both savory and sweet items. I chose the pulled beef sandwich and got an Americano as my beverage of choice. I needed something to fill up my stomach and also something to wake me up and this combination sounded very good. The busy young woman who seated us soon came by and promptly took our order. While we waited, we took time to relax and enjoy the decor and vibe of the restaurant.

The restaurant had glass walls on three sides with the counter and kitchen at one end enclosed by solid walls. This arrangement ensured plenty of light to pour in. The temperature was maintained optimally to ensure all patrons were comfortable. While we waited, more customers showed up and soon most of the tables were taken. It got busy but not overly noisy and given the fact that we were seated at the far end away from most of the tables, we did get some privacy and quietness in that zone.

Pulled beef sandwich at Coffee World Uttara Dhaka

The food and drink arrived after some time with the pulled beef sandwich arriving first. I was amazed by the size of the sandwich. I was expecting something smaller but was pleasantly surprised by its size. The quantity of the fries was acceptable but I love fries and would have preferred a little bit extra. Soon after the sandwich was served, my Americano arrived in a large mug. The coffee smelled good and I was ready to dive into my food after taking a few sips of the coffee.

I was really looking forward to my sandwich but had mixed feelings after trying it out. To start with, the bread was a little light in texture and I would have preferred something a little more dense. The meat inside was interesting. It was cooked in local spices until probably it dried up and was stripped off the bones. In addition to that, vegetables were added including sauteed mushrooms and carrots but were mixed with a sauce. The combination of local spices and the sauce created a confusing taste but it did work out somehow. The fries that came with my sandwich were slightly hard and perhaps overcooked. The Americano was good with rich flavor but I prefer mine a little stronger. Overall though, I was happy with my drink.

More than the food, I have to say I was impressed by the staff at this restaurant. They knew what they were doing and ensured all customers were taken care of even if that meant working harder during rush hour. They spoke good English which is important since we noticed a few foreigners at the restaurant.

So here is how I would rank the ambiance, service, and food quality at this restaurant. I really liked the openness of the restaurant with the large glass walls. I would rate it at 8 out of 10. The service was surprisingly very good and it gets a 9 out of 10. The food was just ok and gets a 6 out of 10. So the overall score for all three factors comes down to 7.7 out of 10. I do want to point out that it would be unfair to judge the quality of the food based on just one or two items and I will definitely come back to try other things on the menu.
